Hey everyone! If we haven't met or if you haven't heard my name's Travis and I'm one of your presidents for Manzanita. If you ever see a guy rolling by on a bike with bumping music holler and say what's up! Speaking of bikes, my RHA program BIKES 101 was this past week and it went great! A lot of people showed up and one lucky person got a free bike! Keep an eye out for BIKES 102! Anywho, All Hall Brawl is coming up and I couldn't be more psyched! If you don't know me, I'm a really spirited person. You'll likely see me decked out in our awesome Manzanita t-shirts bleeding light blue paint all over. Hall Council has been working on my embarrassing cheers I'm making them to do and I just hope all the other residence halls are ready to compete with us! There will be a Pep rally right before All Hall Brawl on February 5th that will be right in front of De Anza so come on down and limber up as we prepare to take the trophy this year! First 50 people to show up also get free shirts so get them while they're hot!
So that's all I have to say for now. If you have any comments, questions, suggestions, feel free to come to my weekly office hours! Peace out!
My Office Hours:

All Hall Brawl is almost upon us and with it unity and fellowship follow amongst the Santa Catalina South Tower Residents. All Hall Brawl is a program in which all of the Residence Halls come together under the Thunderdome and duke it out to prove once and for all which Hall is the best! In other words, it is the same as the rallies we all had in high school. Where the classes were pitted against each other but now it’s our respective halls. San Cat South is ready and geared up for the up and coming battle. Just to name a few of our gear: shirts, temporary tattoos, face paint, and much more! We made sure to make the shirts only $5 so that every resident could have the chance to buy one and wear it for All Hall Brawl. The competition isn’t the only thing to look forward to at the Brawl. There is also going to be Raffle Prizes like a 40” Flat Screen TV, PS3, Beats Pill, and iPad Mini! I mean, come on! Those are some awesome prizes and if you go to All Hall Brawl your chances of winning increases to about 100%! If that’s not enough to entice people to come, then I don’t know what is. Oh wait, did I mention it’s going to be super fun and you will not regret going and this is a once in a lifetime (more like once a year) chance to experience something like this? I hope to see you all there!
Just wanted to fill everyone in on a project I have going on at Santa Catalina South. Our hall council is working on creating a textbook library for the residence hall so students would not need to bike back to Davidson Library to access the course reserves. I am hoping to get a cabinet full of textbooks, particularly the ones most popular for freshman, like Anthropology 2, Greek Mythology, Psychology 1, etc. These textbooks would be loaned out for short periods of time to students, allowing residents to share these textbooks and also save them a huge amount of money that textbooks, even the rentals, cost us. Additionally, this project would also help the environment by saving paper from the multitude of individual textbooks students would be using if they had not been able to share the same. To me this project represents more than a just a cash saving project, but a way for every resident not only to help themselves, but to take all the resources they used to learn and thrive in class and then pass them along to the future generations of students who will live in Santa Catalina.
If anyone is interested in helping with this project or donating their books, feel free to reach out to me at email@example.com! We’re always open to donations of any books in any condition. We will be holding a raffle for everyone who donates a book, the more books you donate the more entries into the raffle you receive.
Yours til the art works,
Co-President of Santa Catalina South Residence Hall
It was nice to come back to Anacapa after Winter Break and see everyone in our community reconnecting and filling the halls with life once again. Everyone seems to be getting back into the swing of things and excited to continue their time here Anacapa. Our hall council has grown closer and is getting a lot of ideas and activities for the community lined up this quarter. Anacapa's hall color and mascot has been decided by the community to be an orange anaconda. This quarter I hope to see the floors become more integrated and involved with one another outside of hosted events. I would also like to praise our hall council for having a great first quarter and carrying their enthusiasm into the winter quarter. Some highlights from last quarter, we held a hall wide dodgeball tournament, Halloween costume party and Anacappuccino. These events had big turn outs and went above and beyond their objectives. Anacappuccino was very successful in raising money for three major charities and having residents from all of the halls perform. Also these three events, being all inclusive, gave many students a chance to get to know more members of their community and get connected with kids outside their immediate dwelling. I'm looking forward to great things this quarter from my hall council and community.
